Update on STI Treatment Recommendations: Implications for Clinical Settings
Target Audience: Physicians, midlevel practitioners (PA, NP), nurses, and other health professionals who see patients with or at risk for sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Course Description: Faculty and staff from the St. Louis STI/HIV Prevention Training Center will discuss the recent CDC guidance on gonorrhea treatment as well as forthcoming changes to the CDC STI Treatment Guidelines. Topics will include evidence-based approaches to STI epidemiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
Course Objectives:
· Discuss current approaches to gonorrhea diagnosis and treatment.
· Describe the role of antimicrobial stewardship in the management of urethritis, including management strategies for chlamydia.
· Describe current literature on the management of vaginitis.
