Target Audience:  Physicians, midlevel practitioners (PA, NP), nurses, and other health professionals who see patients with or at risk for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

Course Description:  This course is a 4-hour, state-of-the-art update on current issues in STD diagnosis, treatment, and care.  Topics presented include recent developments in clinical care for syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, evidence-based strategies for STD/HIV prevention.  Clinical approaches to patient care are also considered.

Course Objectives: At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss current approaches to syphilis diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
  • Recognize emerging patterns of antimicrobial resistance for gonorrhea.
  • Describe clinical presentation and patient management strategies for chlamydia.
  • Demonstrate innovative, evidence-based approaches STD clinical care and prevention.
